I am coming to the realization my trip to Namibia is only 18 days away. I have been shooting my bow daily. Am I ready? Time will tell, but I am heading to the dark continent with a lot of confidence. My daughter is accompanying me on this safari. The goal is to arrow a Damara dik-dik, a Livingston Eland, and a Hyena. Yes, around the clock hunting! It is my opinion; the eland is dead if one presents itself. The dik-dik is dead if it stands still enough at under 25 yards, doesn't jump string, and presents itself. I am worried about the hyena. so many things can go wrong while night hunting. The hyena is said to weigh somewhere around 88 to 150 pounds. Being from Colorado, I equate their size to that of a mountain lion. They have a nose 300 times better than a human. Our blind placement, at 30 yards, needs to be perfect! A thirty-yard shot at night...what possibly could go wrong? Right? During the day, I will also assist my daughter with her goal of arrowing a gemsbok, wildebeest, and blesbok. I pity the warthog that gets in front of her!
