My dad is in his middle 60's and we've been looking into getting a crossbow for him to continue enjoying the outdoors. This would be the first crossbow for me and him. I looked into the Excalibur Axiom. What do you guys think? Any tips would be great!
I can't give you any advice on how well the Axiom shoots. But I can tell you they have a good feel for a crossbow.Very good balance an not as heavy as a lot of the crossbows on the market. My Dads looking at that same bow for himself and since he nit picks EVERYTHING,it must be a top notch bow for him to even consider it.
You can not go worng with an Excalibur crossbow. The Axiom is a good choice.....provided the additional width of a recurve crossbow is not an issue.
I bought an Excalibur Vortex this year and I am very happy with it. They are quality products, plain and simple. One thing: buy him a sling to go with it. It seems like a minor thing, but it isn't. I routinely go rifle hunting without a sling, but with a crossbow it is really a "must have" item because they are so awkward to carry.
I've only heard good things....but today I looked at one (Axiom) at ****s Sporting Goods and mistaked it for a plastic toy at first. I hunt a Wicked Ridge Invader only complaint is that it's LOUD. My father in law just picked up a Darton Serpent II that seems to have it all....Compound bow level for noise, low profile, fast, light. CJ
I've never handled the Axiom but I know their Equinox line of crossbows is touted as lightweight and ergonomic. But I don't know how loud they are.
