Anyone else ever wonder what this site (or any similar site) would be like if everyone just checked their ego at the door? I'm just saying.

I'll be first. I am not the best hunter in the world. In fact, I probably suck. I just love it.

There's still so much I need to learn. I watch a young boy struggle to brush his teeth each morning...I am so fortunate!

You are exactly right Will, we all so often lose sight of what is really important and worry about rediculous crap like "what will they think of me?" instead of just being elated by the fact that we get to enjoy the world in which we were born in so many ways. That is truly what it is all about. To hell with rack size. To hell with deer. To hell with all the macho BS. If I can still climb a tree, stalk an animal, BREATH... I am lucky. Being in the woods with a bow is a gift. Treat it as such.

Did I miss something over the past few days..??

    I don't see anything different. Was there a argument I'm not finding?

If this is just a generic thread.. why even bring it up?

I doubt most people care really what another does when they're out in the woods OR what they shoot (especially someone they may never have met).. the problem on a public forum is usually just a loss in translation.. not a ego-driven confrontation.

I'm not trying to be a pain.. if you are or anyone is taking it that way.. it's because the reader takes the sentence personally.. and not objectively. No need too.. 99% of the time nobody's out to get you.

But I don't think the solution to either problems (if you could call it that) would be to start a thread on the subject.. but that he or she who thinks about it (the subject) just tries themselves to take things less personally... involve less ego of their own if you will.

You can't change another.. but you can change yourself.. and changing yourself.. changes others.. it's funny like that.

I never said we don't all have ego's.

I said it's likely not ego that gets stomped on so much as it is good old fashioned misinterpretation of what someone writes... or the emotion someone has when they write.. which is likely not intended to "slam" another.

I'm not sure how my avatar shows ego either. What it does show is someone who doesn't take everything in life so seriously (especially hunting).. prefers to laugh at himself while at home on the couch.. and plainly seems to enjoy life much more than alot ever do. I see the humor and irony of it everyday.

I LOVE to hunt.. I don't need to be so serious about it to love it.. do I? Isn't it more egotistical when you don't smile? Or have fun? Trying to act all bad-a**.. like someone at home is checking you out.

Yet.. somehow.. you misinterpreted this picture as ego?

    Get my point?

I mean if you really get all worked up over something on this site, you need to take a pill....by the way, huntingson, you are far from being a sucky hunter, Ive talked with you and seen some pics of your success, quit being modest!

I wish you guys nothing but the best in your hunting pursuits. The only ego I have is that I do not like to lose and will battle to the end not to fail in things I love to participate in each year.

I apologize for the thread in general. It was 2am, I was up working, took a break to check the site and there were some more attacks that stemmed from seemingly nowhere and I posted a pointless thread. It happens I guess. It was not directed at anyone in particular. Have a good week all!
