I've hunted out of treestands for deer, nearly exclusively. I have, however, shot one doe from a ground blind. And that's my one and only deer hunt from the ground. And it was fun. And after turkey hunting out of one this spring, I think I'm going to hunt out of it more for deer, this fall.

It's just an exciting way to hunt. Different. I like the eye level encounters, close up and personal. I don't have to worry about this tree or that one.....I think I'm going to hunt more from the ground this year. Anybody else ever considered doing this? I would like to shorten my learning curve and learn what I can from those of you that have used this method more often.

After this Spring in the Turkey blind, I will be buying two different blinds for this coming season. I plan on trying to take at least one ground kill this year.

I think it all depends on the situation your in. Some places a treestand just isn't possible. I have hunted one time out of a ground blind and it really didn't thrill me. It just bugs me that i cant see everything i think.

I've only taken one deer from the ground with a bow, but it was def. an adrenaline rush and a half. As already stated some places have no good trees for a stand, and this little spot was a gully that had only saplings and a long strip of berries that the deer hit in the late season. Only legitimate food source in this spot. It was a young doe, shot at 25 yds from a makeshift blind of cedar branches and leaves. 2 days before Christmas. A good memory for sure, Im definitely thankful I sat in the bitter cold that day. :deer:

I grew up thinking you could only kill a deer from a tree.

Several years back I started incorporating ground hunting into my mix & it has been a lot of fun. Killed a few deer too.

I hunt from the ground as much if not more than from a tree. I don't use a blind, I just stay behind a stump or large tree and try to stay still. I killed my buck last year from the ground, more than 1/2 of my bow kills have been from the ground.

My first and most exciting,(to date), bow deer came from the ground. I'll be back on the ground at least part time this yea. I have this one deadfall in mind.

I have hunted a little from a ground blind but I much prefer to be up high in a tree. I only use a blind in areas where there is no options for tree stands.

I am planning on putting the ASAT blind to use more this season. I have a couple of spots in mind, like on the edges of corn fields and an area that has a lot of small trees.

Sometimes hunting on the ground may be the best way depending on the circumstances and situation. As crazy as it sounds if I hunt from the ground its generally in late season and I've had some success with it.

I spend a lot of time hunting whitetails on the ground, sometimes it's the best option for the circumstances.
