Dude, everytime i'm in the stand I wish i was like "beastmaster". I'd love to have me a friendly hawk that could do rounds for me.
I thought I was the only one. I had a squirrel goes crazy Friday and I thought, squirrels never tip me off for a deer. About 2 minutes later 2 does come up the ridge with the squirrel hopping from tree to tree barking. I thought, man I wish I had a pet squirrel, he could run around into known bedding areas and let me know if a big boy was in there by giving a specific bark. I thought, we would train him by showing him pictures of what a shooter is. I then thought, man I got issues, no one sits on stand and thinks of things such as this...:p:D Well you know what they say, birds of a feather.
I always find my self wodering about the deer I dont see-the ones that slip by out of sight or the ones that catch a whiff of my scent and skirt around me.
It was a long sit already by that time... never did see anything except the three squirrels digging for nuts 20 feet in front of me. They kept me occupied for the better part of 30 minutes at least. Got me to wondering what they see when one of the fox squirrels ran up a tree five feet away from me and we were staring at each other eyeball to eyeball.
I did a morning hunt yesterday and left the woods at 10:00AM. I came back at about 2:00PM for the evening hunt and changed cards in my Cuddeback. I got this pic as I was gone for only 4 hours. I WAS doe hunting. Take an hour off the time for DST.
I wish I had a little airplane with a camera I could fly around the property with me on the receiving end with a little TV. But that's just me. :D
Yep, many times! Another one that always comes to mind for me Is "What would I see If I could lift the woods up that I'm hunting In to see what's around"? Probably don't want to know!!
