No.. not at a deer, but just messing around practicing. I set my target up down the 9th fairway yesterday and was flinging arrows at 100. It was pretty fun just to screw around with it. I didn't really have anything to look at as far as a sight. I just had to guesstimate how far above the target to hold it. Surprisingly I hit the target 3 out of 4 times everytime I shot. I mean hit the target as in the block itself not a specific dot. It was funny releasing the arrow and having to wait a couple seconds to hear the thwack lol. What was interesting was when I was done and set it up at 20 yards. It literally felt like it was 2 yards.
I do it fairly regularly. That Rinehart 18-1 sure looks small from that distance. I started practicing that way so a 50yd shot at an elk would be reasonable.
I have but like you I was just foolin around and had to guess how high to hold the pins. I quit after digging a few arrows out of the ground.
I've done it quite a bit. When competing for FITA, mens classes compete at 30, 50, 70, and 90 meters. 90 meters is something like 99.98 yards. It's a ton of fun and when you have the appropriate target setup for this type of long distance shooting, it's amazing to see how well you can actually group them at that distance. It's also pretty cool to be on the line when 50 guys are all shooting at that distance.........it's like a sea of arrows going through the air. Here is a picture of me at our 2006 state FITA shoot, I'm pretty sure I was shooting at the 90 meter targets in this picture.
Yep! Lots of fun I have a pic somewhere, of Rob(PA) and I standing over a 100 yard target (some African critter)... can't seem to find it, though ... think it was 108 yards
