I was out shed hunting this week and stumbled across this on a deer trail.

I have never seen one of these in the woods before, it was just different/strange enough that I snapped a photo of it.

It was probably about 3 foot in diameter, with the little bit of blood in the middle.

I didn't see any coyote tracks in the area, but the snow is pretty hard right now, if they came down the trail, the yote tracks may not have been visible.

I also ran into another urine circle like this one, same size and coloration about 50 yards from the first one....

Any ideas on what it may be from? or why it is there?

Wasn't it Dukemichaels who recently came across some spotty blood on a deer trail and backtracked it to find some freshly dropped sheds?

First thought that came to my mind...

    Interesting and I haven't a clue.

I wonder if that's his primary bed and like Greg says, lays differently depending on wind? Again, not a clue and I'm looking to learn something on this one.

Maybe he did it as a warning sign to make sure his buddies knew it was his bed ;)

Maybe he was raised by dogs and circled around three or four times before lying down... :)

I believe you are looking at signs of yote or fox.

I see similiar sign every year ( although not in a complete circle) scattered in CRP fields mostly (a good hunting ground for yotes and fox when snow is present). The blood is a tell tale sign.. and I bet if you looked hard enough a feather or 2 would pop up somewhere down the trail.

The fact that you can't find any yote tracks would lead me to believe it was fox.. since they are lighter on the foot so to speak.

It's some sort of behavior thing.. I read about it years ago after I first came across it. Don't remember what its "used" for. But a trapper might be able to answer that question.

And yes.. I was able to back-track a few drops of blood to a fresh shed earlier this month.

    LMAO! Might be right Greg!

I think he obviously has moved around a lot. At least that's my impression. :-)

    Ever seen a cow piss?

First thing that came to my mind was a female. The droppings could be left by a curious passer-by.

    But.....I have NO IDEA.

    You have moose?

    Elk?

I'm thinking he's smarter than your average deer and his name is "O".

Much like a dog, I watched this fox (15 yrds) do a circle before laying down. First I watched him yawning.

As far as those pics go, yes that's very strange. I don't think a yote was involved though.

This is an obvious sign of Voodoo in your area. You need to be careful and be awasre of any sudden pains in unusual areas. Anyone in your area carrying something like this around?

Looks like a "pissing contest" that doesn't involve being on a hunting forum.
