Do you ever look back on a shot and wonder how the hell you did that. I'm sitting my stand I shot my buck out of this year. Looking at where he was standing I can't see a hole to shoot through now. How in the hell an arrow got through there is completely beyond me. I know I scoped it out for a good minute that morning before shooting. Now I can't see a sliver of hole that I actually think I could shoot through. Maybe the leaves that were still on were weighing down a limb just enough to make a hole. Maybe the wind blowing just right to hold something out of the way. Or maybe just pure luck that an arrow got through and that path was as closed off then than it is now. I don't know. Just amazing all the things that have to go right to make something happen.
Generally no, as I'm not one for threading needles but there was one buck I killed many years back that my dad questioned how is shot the deer. The next time I got in that tree I have no idea how I did it.
Gotta take tree growth into consideration. Branches and limbs will get longer and cover up some shooting lanes.
Absolutely not. Won't shoot through branches EVER...risk of injury is too much. If I want to shoot to a certain spot there is a lane cut...if not there is no shot being taken.
Nope , I did look back once and wonder how I didn't see that 1 small limb but I would never intentionally shoot through a bunch of them .
Exactly... and branches will be in different positions later in the year depending on the amount of foliage they are carrying or snow that may be on them. I was doing the same thing a couple of weeks back.. wondering how it looked so open in the window I shot earlier in the year, but not now...
