A friend of mine called me up today and said his boss gave him a compound bow that he thinks has to be a youth bow due to the size and draw. he said all that it said on it was "BUCKMASTER". I asked him if he could look closer and see if he could find any other identifying marks on it. he said he would look when he got home. I did a little google searching and could not find much info. I found that bear and jennings both made a buckmaster. I found a few pages about bear buckmaster "young buck" and a buckmaster "worrier" that had been recalled. I ask because he wanted to trade me this bow (and maybe some cash depending on what its worth) for my old PSE EDGE. If the bow has a recall i dont want it at all. if its an ok bow I might make the trade and hold on to it for my step son. problem is my friend knows less than I do about bows. meaning he knows almost nother :p and I live almost 80 miles from him so i cant just stop by and look at it. if anyone here could give me some info if you know were I can start looking (or tell him to look) on the bow to find a modle or make or some way to identify what this bow really is that would be grate. Thanks: Jeff
Jennings who made the BuckMaster was bought out by Bear Archery some years ago. I know Bear makes youth bows. Several in fact. The Brave, The Warrior, the Apprentice. I would call and ask your friend the exact name on the bow and plug it into google. That's how I found out how old the used bow I purchased was.
he called me back the other day and said he has looked this thing over top to bottom and can find nothing but the word "BuckMaster" on it. so I have no Idea. I would think that it would have a modle or something stamped some place?
The only thing you can do at this point is call Bear Archery and ask them. They should be able to answer any questions you have.
