where you wake up and just feel it?! You can't wait to get to your stand. You know today is going to be one of those incredible days in the woods. Everything seems perfect. No reason why you shouldn't see a lot of deer. Then after a couple hours pass it slowly dawns on you and you say to yourself....... "wait a minute this really sucks today"! :p

Man I felt good this morning. Got up early. Fresh washed clothes. Wide awake and ready for the woods. For some reason there was life in my legs again. After a long tough season I've been dragging lately. The walks seem that much farther. The legs seem that much heavier. But not this morning. I glided to my stand with a little spring to my step. I was settled in and on alert from minute one. Felt the enthusiasm like it was opening day. First snowfall of the year (which is really odd for around here this time of year). Trees and ground covered with snow. Calm, cool morning... ahhhhhhhhh. Only problem was, I didn't see a stinking deer :p:eek:. Oh well. Felt good for a change anyway.

Ever have one of those sits you knew was going to be a slam dunk dead deer day and see absolutely nothing? How bad does it burst your bubble?

I've had several of these lately....I've had a hard time in the late bow season here in Northwest MO. With all of the wet weather there is a ton of corn still in around us and guess where the deer are....yeah, chill'n in the corn.

It's hard to get motivated sometimes... and then you just feel it... Our ground was white too yesterday... I was in my stand by 2pm... I think I might have seen one out in a far field...lol. But I did have that feeling.... Today... not so much... I might not even go...

Late season, cold temps (-3 this morning at my house), fresh snow on the ground always seems like a whole new season to me, I try to treat every hunt like its my first and last. I never get enough of this whitetail hunting. If it wasnt for shed hunting I think I would get depressed after whitetail season closes. Good luck with the remainder guys!

Thanks, but it's not really about sticking with it to pay off. I already did my thing and could really care less if I get another one this year :p:D. Would like to throw another doe in the freezer for meat though. Passed on a gazilion to keep a tag so I can try to get one with the bow in the late season. Always love the challenge. Oh yeah if that 120" 8 pointer shows himself again he'll get it too ;).

That's just how I felt about yesterday evening. Perfect wind and quiet, EXCEPT for the snow/ice patches melting and dropping noisily to the ground. Wondering if that made them paranoid? Didn't see squat! I'll see what this evening brings.
