LOL. Yes, seriously. Small town where the theatre is actually owned and operated by a LLC that has a board of directors. Volunteer ofcourse. They still have to pay the whopping $3 to see a SHOW. Keep in mind, that for $5 you can keep the 3-D glasses, but we highly recommend placing them in the recycle box as you leave. Yes, Iowa is a bit of a step back in time in many ways. But for the most part, it is actually a good thing. And for the record, I did eat some awesome seafood in LA. You KILL us there!! Please take no offense to my jabs at LA. I think we all have a soft spot for the place we call home. By the way, I have already received one PM from someone wishing to relocate to this backward land.
Just for the record matinee movies 7.00, later movies 9.50, 3D movies 13.00 here in the Chattanooga area. My mind has been blown by this thread!
Dang man! We'd have to sell all the chickens, half the goats and two of our best shoats to take our kin to one of them shows in Chattahootchie. Thats just plum highway robbery. Do you get to keep the seat?
It's been a long, long time since I went to a movie. I remember not really wanted to sitting in the seats let alone wanting to keep one. Do people really have that hard of time drinking pop and eating popcorn when the lights are out ??? I told the wife back then if we want to see a movie... we will rent one. It's been probably 10 years since we rented a movie. Tim
Oregon? That's the only state I know of that is full service only. First time I went there I got yelled at when I tried to pump my own gas because it's illegal.
You forgot $3.50 for a box of candy, $3.00 for bottled water, $5.00 for popcorn, and $10 for a reach-around. I occasionally come across a gas station in rural northern Michigan that doesn't have pay at the pump. Its like going back in time 20 years. Some even have the credit card carbon copy slider thingy. Its like I'm at a museum.
What an informative thread. And to think,..... it all started by a guy that poops in his grunt tube. For the record, we're all prepay around here with one even full service in Camden, NY. LOL I'm really lovin this PriceChopper Advant Card. You get 10 cents a gallon off for every 50 dollars you spend in the grocery store. It builds up but you start loozing some after 2 or 3 months. I filled up the other day and got a dollar off per gallon. Fill up was 14 gallons.... saved 14 dollars.
Your lucky! Since my wife is on the theatre board she wont let me pop for the reach-around (only $5 here).
Damn yankees moved down here, could be why we have to pre-pay now. My local gas station is pump then pay if they know you. Still plenty of old timey stuff around here, but you drive 15 mins and your in the middle of everything current. Seriously though, its $10 bucks for any movie here and like $16 for a 3-D movie, Im getting raped, without the courtesy for a reach around.
There is a theater in Vito neck of the woods, I took my kids, my BIL and me. 13 dollars for all of us and drinks and two large popcorns. It was all self serve, but I loved it!!!
I could almost drive up there and save money, no lie, its $40 bucks to go see a movie for me and my GF, get drinks and popcorn. Ive talked her into renting lately, its working well for me so far. Redbox is priceless.
