Seems like once a year it happens to me. I go in and pay for gas. I pick up some other stuff while I'm in there. Go back outside, get in my truck and drive off forgetting to pump the gas I already paid for. In a hurry, thinking about other stuff or just losing my mind. I don't know how it happens.
not a bad idea. But that would require the cashier to run me out Dr. pepper, couple slices of pizza and the AA batteries that I grabbed while I was in there.
Yes, hick town luxury, even though I don't consider having to walk into the store to pay as a luxury. This is America. The least amount of movement required is the best way.
Here you can pay at the pump or pump and then pay. Then again, you can probably trust people around here more too.
Pretty much all the gas stations in this area are still pump and pay. Some stations change over to pre-pay after say 9pm. Are there THAT many drive offs where this is the norm other places?
100% of gas stations here are either pre-pay or pay at the pump all 24/7. I haven't seen a pump then pay gas station in about 15 years (as previously stated). I know the reason why it's like this down here, but I'm afraid to say it on such a holy day.
Maybe it is the enforcement costs associated but I can't imagine in this day in age getting away with doing a drive off. Every gas station has cameras everywhere. You license plate, face, car, everything is on film. Going to be pretty hard to get away with it if you ask me. I'm not a criminal so enlighten me how people got away with it. If I wanted to go into the store to buy something after filling up and hence didn't want to use my credit card twice (at the pump and in the store) I would be pissed and go to another gas station if they had pre pay only.
Agree 100% of our stations are like this. I figured it was like this everywhere, I had no idea there where still gas stations that allowed you to pump and then pay. Not that it bothers me though, I pay at the pump 99% of the time.
I didn't realize there were areas that are 100% pre-pay. Like you Phillip I pay at the pump pretty often. It's just when I want to get gas and run in the station and get a case of beer or something that this changes.
All pump and then pay or pay at the pump here. Looks like that is basically the case in the Midwest. I have had to prepay when we travel. Makes me feel like I am in the "land of thieves". lol
I get my gas pumped for me at a local station during the winter months. It's only like 2 cents more a gallon, beats standing out in the cold. Most of the stations here you can pump then pay, but if I pump it myself, I pay at the pump.
I can't think of a gas station anywhere around here that is pump then pay. I've never paid at the pump either. I can't remember just getting gas at a gas station. I'm always grabbing something else, so I just pay for everything at once inside. It's just sometimes I forget to pump the gas.
