It seems to wear off boots pretty fast. I just rub some on the bottoms and morning dew usually has it washed off as far as my nose cares by the time I get to the truck, walking ~a half mile round trip.
I've been curious about it for awhile, unfortunately it is off limits to me now due to the ban in VA.
Even better, we won't have to walk as far to shoot a deer if they smell it in the garage and come on in
I'm using the herd scent for the first time this season. I haven't had enough encounters to determine what I think of it yet, but I'll keep using it this season and see what the results are.
Like others on this thread, I've had tremendous success with the calming stick. I think it played a role in two trophies hanging around long enough for me to arrow the largest one a couple weeks ago, I've had large bucks follow me up to the stand in the dark, and last weekend three does hung around my blind for 30 minutes, the most mature of which blew and stomped but never spooked. My thinking is she thought there was a deer around and she wanted to make it show itself. It's really a gamechanger. I had less luck with the red stick, or any of the other products. But Evercalm herd scent stick has worked wonders for me and has directly led to harvest on more than one occasion.
i use the heard in a stick, lasts a long while. rub it on my boots, leave the stick open laying in my gear bag. honestly believe it works well as a cover scent. smells pretty nice too !! i have been up close on deer every sit this year and all seem to act natural.. it does leave a white film on anything you rub it on. but does not seem to stain. i recommend
I had a mature doe do the exact same thing. Stomp and blow but never spooked. Couldn't figure out why she did this, and t was the first time I've ever seen a deer act like that haha
I started using evercalm this season and so far its worked well...first time out had a 4 pointer and doe within ten yards of my stand for about 20 mins just sniffing around and hanging out...next time out I had 4 does come in I walked to a scrap 15 yards in front of my stand before i climbed up to my stand and when the lead doe came in she smelled my trail and then kept looking back past my stand into the swamp thicket, she then left and went back the way she came in, looped around and got down wind of me, came up the trail I use to get in grunting the whole time looped passed my stand at 5 yards and meandered off all the while not being on alert as if she saw/smelled a human! This stuff definitely works...I think ill put it on trees around my stand though from now on instead of on my boots.
Tonight had 5 does a spike and a nice 8 within 55 yards and the wind swirled and blew right at them and they never winded me. The spike even bedded down!
I have used it for a couple of years now and it works really well. I put it under my boots before I walk in and I rub some on tree branches once I am in the tree. I had deer walk in the same way I get to my stand are not spooked.
Just picked up some on sale at D1ck's for $15. They also had Special Golden Estrous for $15 with an additional $5 mail in rebate in case anyone is interested. Not sure if it is just here or everywhere though
I used it last year but didn't have many instances where I could have noticed it was working or not. Switched to Deer Dander this year and have had amazing results.
Yeah fitzgerald is the people who make it. I got mine from Cabelas - Pretty much the exact same reviews as people with evercalm have had. I just like that I can spray it instead of rub it. I think I apply it liberally and I still have a lot left (started using mid September). I've witnessed 3 deer so far this season come straight down the trail I came in on and not spook at all. No mature buck encounters with it yet.
