    I have, like 5 times now!

Last week 6 of us loaded up and drove 7 hrs north to Peoria, IL to bowfish with Chris Brackett (Arrow Affliction TV) for those crazy ass flying asian carp. 900+ miles later, I am home and finally caught back up with work and everything.

    OH....MY...GOD!

That is about as insane as shooting your bow can get! We probably saw 10,000 fish in 6 hrs! Had well over 50 jump into our boat alone (ran two boats), probably personally got SMACKED by about 15 or so of the devils, and connected on 6 of them. 3 pulled off, leaving me with a whopping 3 fish shot and pulled into the boat.:busted:

Guys, if you haven't ever tried this, you have GOT to try it. We chose to use his bows since when they hit you they often knock a bow to peices, but our favorite weapon of choice was an Easton Softball Bat off the front of the boat!

The last 30 minutes, my arm was so tired from holding at full draw for hrs, that I opted to sit out and take pics of the fish to wrap up the ride back to the ramp. I didn't get many good ones (they are freaking fast), but enjoy the spoils of my labor. We were running an HD rig on each boat, and got like 11 hrs of footage, but it can't be revealed until after it airs for the TV show this winter.

I came away with the small fish challenge, one of the smallest Brackett said he has seen hit that far out (seriously like 15-20 yards out there...LUCK).

Would have been an AMAZING pic, but just as I was snapping it his friend drilled me and nearly sent me out of the boat, so I was falling as the pic took. The fish in the pic was maybe 2-3 feet from the lens.

Should have seen some of the looks we were getting from the boardwalk over by those big buildings, I LOVED it. HAHA

IMO, sweetest pic of the batch.

They are so bad in the bay and backwaters here on the Mississippi river, that it's a major risk to take a family out on a boat anymore...I'm not sure you can harvest enough of these! And d@mn they stink!

Trust me, it's much more fun with other people's boats and equipment. We live 45 mins from the IL river but rarely go there. Jumping silvers are entertaining for only so long. I have been hit many times and it sucks. They break stuff on the boat too.

I much, much, much, much prefer real bowfishing.

Still, we're supposed to take some friends out later this summer. It will be fun, for awhile. ;)

BTW, it's kind of funny because I drive all the way down to KY to shoot fish. (going down there this weekend)

I did want to say good shooting and you did pretty good with the pictures. They are darn hard to get stills pics of.

Better believe it! We all brought bows, but Brackett told us his were included in the price, and we would not be liable should one blow up or go overboard.....so we left ours in the vehicles! lol

We do plan to go back with my boat hopefully this summer, but more likely next year. I agree 100% that it is a BLAST, but not something I would want to do week in and week out. It was a GREAT change of pace from shooting fish IN the water, a different challenge as well.

Where will you be this weekend? We may be making a trip to KY Dam Saturday night if I can find 2-3 guys to split gas with me.

The fish did hit hard, but we actually found it fun/hilarious when they struck....the guy sitting next to you!

Funny how that works isn't it? Tho' when we were making a DVD with Bigtime Bowfishing about shooting silvers, Kendall got struck in the hip by a 20+lb silver. Hard enough of a hit that it rocked Sam's big 20ft plate boat. I think everybody on board winced.

I once managed to ricochet a silver off the side of my head and into the fish barrel. It was kind of cool, 'cept for the slime coating it left.

I'll pm you my cell #. Give me a call if you head over to the dams. We'll be staying on the Ohio River in Illinoiz but depending on conditions, we'll head into KY.
