Curious to see when most of you guys are getting in the stand for an afternoon sit this time of year?

Today I was in the stand around 3:45, but any time between 3:30 and 4:30. Tonight I sat a new property and saw 2 does, 2 fawns and a pack of 4 coyotes. They coyotes were about 70 yards out, I fawn bleated, but I wasn't able to sell them on it.

It depends on several things honestly. If I'm going to be hunting on a field, it allows me to not have to climb into the stand until 330 or so. Back in the timber more, I won't go in there unless I can get into the stand no later than 2. Here in PA, deer get up and feed around during all times of the day back in the woods. So, if you get in there too late, you risk bumping deer.

I go when I get done with work. Usually an hour or so before sundown this time of year. It's the best I can do. I would like to be in earlier.

One spot I hunt is close to bedding area so I tend to get in for 1400 at the latest because sometimes the deer will be up browsing around so getting in a little earlier helps me out on the days they are up early.

Usually between 2:00-4:00. Once the clocks change that can change also.

Depends, mostly on the weather and stand location I want to hunt/get to. As a general rule I would say 4-5 hours before sun down.

Today I am heading in at 2-2:30. I really want to take my time to the tree and give myself plenty of time to get settled with my gear. I don't want to be rushed when I do these things.

Couldn't agree more. I can't stand rushing to get in my stand.

Whenever possible, I like to be in the stand and set up by 3:30 at the latest. Also depends on the weather...cloudy days I'm trying to get in as early as I can.

Also, public land makes a difference. I try to be the first person in the woods in my public areas, but last year I got to my deer camp later than I wanted to, and by the time I grabbed my climber and hit the woods it was 3:45. I have to park in a public lot and then I walk in about 1 1/5 miles deep down the edge of some CRP then into the deep woods. There was one other truck in the lot when I got there.

After an uneventful evening, I get back to my jeep and there is a note on my windshield. It said (in all caps and looked like a 3rd grader's writing) :

    THANKS 4 REUNIN MY HUNT.
U SKIRRD BIGGEST BUCK I EVER SEEN HERE
(Curse word that rhymes with bass pole)

    (spelling errors were his)

Luckily he didn't key my jeep.

I try to be in my stand one hour before the expected peak activity. Today that is 4:38pm in my area. I am scouting this afternoon, if I was hunting I would be in a tree no later than 3:38pm.

Typically I get to my stand around 3:45 this time of year. Getting out of work at 3 is the biggest reason for this. The lease is about 25 minutes from my house. It's not a real long walk to get to the stands, maybe 5 minutes.

Don't matter when I go to my stand.. what stand I go to.. so far this year I've only seen one deer past 10 am in stand and it was a spike cruising through at 2 pm. I've done 2 all day sits, and 2 evening sits 1 day I went in at around 1pm and another I went in at 2 pm.. on my way outta the woods I see deer everywhere, had some ****ty luck during evening hunts so far this year.. mornings have been good to me though, short of shooting anything. I've had plenty of chances at some good doe and some close calls with some good buck. haven't felt like pulling the trigger on a doe yet, one of these mornings they'll catch me in the wrong mood.

at least 3 1/2 hours before dark... earlier if others are hunting the same area... whatever time I have to, to beat them into the woods, that way if they bump one, I hope it moves my way ;)
