This is my #1 beef with hunting. Others want to argue that "trophy hunting" or "leases" or "overharvesting" are killing the deer hunting industry....but it boils down to this type of thing; accountability within our ranks. We are full of ******bags and people unfit to hit the woods or fields. It is these idiots that constantly show PETA and other anti-hunters why in many ways they have a valid beef with deer hunters. They're the idiots that go out of their way to show their dead animals in their truck beds by leaving tailgate down instead of up...they are the ones that have no articulate reason when discussing hunting for why they feel it is needed other than "STFU you DA, it's mer right in merica." That is just the idiots, than others that fall into this category are the ones that go unchecked and break laws in pursuit of "whatever they are in pursuit of"....trespassers, thieves and just all around dbag hunters (poor shot selection guys example). All stems from the same family tree usually....show me an old timer trespassing and I guarantee it's been passed on threefold. The worst thing is that many of us in this hunting industry don't hold these idiots accountable. Their ******ry stains this entire sport with their poop stain habits...I refuse to let people think I'm like them. If hunters collectively started reporting all incidents, prosecuted all trespassing and poaching to the fullest extent we maybe could start gaining ground on this....but I don't see this happening. I know guys that are looked up to because they have a "webshow" or a "website" that skirt laws themselves in hopes of gaining the big buck of their dreams....if they are placed in "higher regard" than most and cheat....than we truly are screwed. rant over...and brother Siman, I feel you, it sucks plain and simple.
YES.... This times a million. The same team BS might be hunting's biggest problem. Most of the "celebs" are preaching this and bashing those that want to separate themselves from the stereotype. When it comes to hunters, I expect at least a couple out of 100 will be complete dummies. That's what you'll experience in all walks of life and it only takes one to ruin the experience.
You can't fix stupid for one two it's the lack of values.respect morales and standards. I know there is a younger generation out there that don't value anything but money and popularity.
Yep, people are a$$ wipes. Caleb, just a thought here about maybe keeping a few cams from being stolen. I trap a lot and use anchor systems that would require either a shovel, a puller, or bolt cutters. You would maybe be able to use some super stakes and chain on your stic n pic cameras attached by a cable. It's just a thought. At the very least it would take quite a bit of effort for somebody without the right tools to get the cameras.
So did the stolen camera come off this 80 acres? If these guys are acting like idiots, posing in front of the camera, shooting up corn piles... could it be as simple as they hunt but aren't really into it like you (we) are. We find the land and the hunt sacred. We spend hundreds of hours a year dedicated to hunt. We respect the hunt... However, the larger majority, just walks out into the woods, sits down, and shoots whatever comes by. They don't care about the hunt, they just shoot a few deer, put some meat in the freezer, have a good time, and never think twice about it. They may have just gotten lucky the big buck walked in front of them. I've hunted land where the people around me hunted, but not seriously. They shoot deer every year. They also target practice while I'm trying to hunt (no risk of being unintentionally fired upon though). Even when my truck was there they were out riding quads. How to fix this problem, no clue. I just scratch this one up to it's not my land, they have permission too, and they aren't hardcore about it like I am. Plus they've been there longer. They've been doing this their entire lives. (and for the record, yes, people suck)
This past year I had our neighbors doing deer drives on quad during opening morning of gun, trespassing during bow season, while on stand, and at the end of the season they dumped garbage bags full of deer carcasses on our property...people definitely suck
What Sota and Earlyin Said!! People suck, and as the years get on, they get worse and worse! No respect, no fear nothing can happen to them in todays lib society, so they get away with it. Garanteed we go back 30-40 years and if someone did these things than, oh boy!! People suck!
