I'm not knocking your opinion, why are you taking my post so serious;) Just asking opinions on the matter Scott, and posing additional questions. I would like to see Josh take the buck to be honest but still wanted to pose a question. There are people out there that would love to take a deer of this caliber and I thought I might get some interesting answers.

I will more than likely be hunting several hundred acres of fenceline with you, but will gladly let you go out with Josh if you want to;)

The object is to reduce the population around there correct? Why is it even a ethics issue? It's obvious all the deer are use to humans being close. Big deal go and do our job at herd control. If a big one comes by drop him. You don't have to feel like you didn't earn it. If a big deer comes along you had no idea was there did you earn him? Have fun good luck! I want to see pics. Tame or domesticated to me is when they depend on humans to survive and would die without them.

Not being "serious" I was just replying to your response about hunting a buck on a pattern.

Wouldn't be the hunt I would chose. To each his own though.

I don't think I would. I'm nowhere near good enough to be patterning VERY mature deer, yet, but I want to get better at it. Although if I happen by a mature buck by chance in the mean time, I will take it, but I would like to earn it. Again, though, it's personal preference. Like Matt (RJ) said, do what makes YOU happy... as long as it's legal.

Don't worry about what anybody here thinks about it, Do what you want to do. I don't think it's an ethics issue either... I "killed" deer in someones back yard a few years ago, they wanted them gone... they were given away for meat, everybody's happy.

I myself... personally would do it, If your killing a wild deer under legal actions, I see nothing wrong with going after the buck of a lifetime... Just because he has a clockwork pattern and "may" not be pressured by humans doesn't mean it isn't hunting... Im betting he knows where humans should be and should not be, and if he see's you he's gonna bust.

Think about this, If you don't someone else will... ;)

I am not replying to this in anyway pertaining to this discussion, just in general... But, this is IMO one of the dumbest reasons one could use to do something...

He obvioiusly wants to... we established that early, If he don't someone else is going to hear about it and jump on the opportunity. Be it his friend Josh.. hopefully, he said he would like that... but If he wants to and has the opportunity... why not? If he don't someone else will. My statement was pertaining to this discussion.

Not for me for the following reason. The have to kill habituated deer to earn the right at an opportunity to hunt the big buck.Doesn't appeal to me in the least! If I wan to buy meat I go the store,if I want to hunt i go to the woods and mountains.
    My personal opinion you asked.
In a way likely not that much different than a farmer saying you can have hunting privleges if you help thin the woodchuck population.
I go with my gut and it just doesn't feel right to me,given the way you have described it.

I am not saying for him not to do anything, I want him to do whatever he wants. I will never tell someone what they should or should not do. Not my place, buisness or anything I would do in the first place.

I just think saying do something because if you don't someone else will.... is retarded.

From the information you provided here...the short answer is no. No matter how much bone is on its head, it wouldn't affect my decision.

Here's my take. For the does in the fenced in area donate the meat that would make it a win win. For the buck to kill a 200"er go for it how often in your life would you have that opportunity. It's 1 year in your hunting career.

Understood, I just think I would regret not taking the opportunity when I wanted to in the first place. To each his own. :)

I qualified to hunt in a State Park last year that I walk my dog through everyday and watch everyday as many, many deer stand 20 yards away and keep eating. I thought it was just going to be too easy, a slam dunk and wondered if I really felt right doing it. At the end of bowseason, I had taken 3 deer, and not a single one came from this state park. Once a person was off the trails, use areas, or roads where deer EXPECTED to see people, they were a whole different animal and I honestly think they were much more alert and cautious to humans than "non-park" deer. I was put in my place. These deer your talking about might just suprise you when they get hunted!

Easiest funnel ever....just open the gate and hang a stand 10yds outside it :D

All seriousness, I'd do it. I would first go whack a bunch of slicks and make her happy....all the while trying to figure out how to get a crack at the big boy. One of my buddies hunts an area just like you described (well except for the fence). Based on what he tells me, the deer are still alert and very cautious, especially the big bucks. They aren't pushovers, like MN said. He says you can get away with alot more though if you are careful....and especially scent - which is huge. Good luck whatever you decide! :)

Would that be like fishing in the tank at Bass Pro or shootin fish in a barrel!!??

How many buck tags do you have? If I had more than 1, I'd probably burn 1 on a problem buck like that!
