On his ESPN radio program Tuesday, Colin Cowherd said that a top-10 program will be in the news for all of the wrong reasons in the near future.

    ESPN Radio's Colin Cowherd.
    Here's Cowherd from the show:

I received an interesting text about 10 days ago, and this should be very frightening if you’re a fan of college football, that a major program in this country is going to be outed very soon for major recruiting violations. It is a top 10-12 program. I know what I think it is according to both my sources; I received another tip last night. I went to Vince Doria, who is sort of the journalistic editor at this company He had heard the exact same thing. We are pursuing this story with vigor. A major publication is about to unseat a major college football power on recruiting violations. I will tell you from my source, it is not — it is not — Auburn. I will leave it at that. It is a major program and a major publication. When we can validate more… I have not been able to validate it nor has this company. We’re both pursuing it.

Wonder who it is? There is a lot of chatter that it is Oregon.... Will have to wait and see.

Rumor has it is a Midwestern team. Tennessee has been mentioned on internet forums. I have no reliable sources.

Tenn already made the news for violations with a Kiffin and company recently. Has to be a different program I would think.

The schools being mentioned most are Oregon and Texas....

I can't say I have a feeling for who it is yet. One report says it is a school that is close to USC.

That could mean close by distance or close by association.

So your sources don't claim a Midwestern team? Interesting.

Your post was the first I read mentioning a midwest team.

Other than tOSU none of the Midwest teams are an annual top 10 team.

So I am hoping it isn't a midwest team!!!!

My non reliable source. I suggest you read all three pages. I also am not limiting midwest to just the big-ten.

FTR, I don't think it's OSU. Tressel has his stuff together. It's all hearsay at this point.

Most forums are saying Oregon, but I think that because most people think that Phil Knight is probably giving the Oregon players a little something more than just uniforms.

Did he say AP top 10 at this point in time or a percieved top 10 program? Big difference!

Is Oregon really a top 10 program? I say no. Unless you only take into account this last year.

Oregon has been in the top 10 for a few years now, so yes
