Just join brother. I've been a team member and have had medical issues just before or during the contest. The camaraderie and new friends are well worth it
I sign up every year and still haven't shot a thing. Maybe I needed to skip it and then I'd get something...hmm...
Go for it. Like others had said its all for fun more than anything. You never know you may lay down a monster this year with your bow.
What's there to lose, this will be my first year in the contest. I just need to invest in a better phone that can take better pictures than my 1megapixel track phone. Or hope some has a phone out in the woods with me.
Ever since I started joining the yearly contest I have been skunked. I was on a 4 year kill streak before that. No more contest for me.
Thanks man, good luck to you too! I have to try something, even if it's something as preposterous as not joining a contest. I'm not even superstitious but if it changes my mindset while in the stand and helps me kill a buck again it will be worth it.
I'll give it this year, then may have to do the same. Though I totally screwed last year up myself. Oops.
Well I can't all blame the contest either. I at least could have shot a doe, I had a sapling grow mid-flight of my arrow. I clipped the tree and luckily didn't even touch the deer. I didn't even see that dang tree, it was last light
Oh I want to. It's a blast. The team camaraderie, coming up with a name, keeping everyone motivated. The contest IS awesome. But I have to change something.
