I am getting so tired of seeing "couples" hunting shows. Enough already. How many times can an audience watch two married persons acting all cutesy and wearing matching clothing, while the male hunts with a "manly" bow and the female part hunts with a pink bow and pink accessories? I could go on about some of the other things that I observe while watching these shows but will stop.

    STOP IT!

I stopped watching them, and cancelled the cable package that carried the outdoor channel and sportsman channel. When i feel the urge to see some bowhunting on the tube i just go on youtube.

I got rid of all of my outdoor channels as well. I couldn't stand those couple shows or most of the others.

I don't mind watching Tiffany. Only if she would wear a bikini more often

I am just wondering if an ugly woman has ever shot a bow.

I am using all that pink to try and get my wife into it. It's about growing the sport, not making it all male. Plus they are much easier on the eyes. Just wish they would make more of there own decisions.

I don't mind Ralph and Vicky, Lee and Tiffany, and Julie and Rick. Other than those guys......I could care less.

Right there with you VS. I can't stand to watch Tiffany. Annoying as hell. And not good looking imho. In fact, nearly all "hunting" bug me to no end. The only three ill watch on tv anymore is On Your Own Adventures, Dropped, or Meateater. I have a few select dvd's ill watch. Hunting tv is all around disgusting anymore.

I agree that the couples thing has gotten out of hand. While there are a few who are good at it and can make an entertaining show, there's some that just plain shouldn't be on TV. Although I guess that can be said for any hunting TV show host, guy or girl. Lately I've just felt like people say to themselves "We're a couple, and we both hunt - why don't we have a TV show too??". Somehow they cough up the money for production and airtime and the next thing you know it's another cookie cutter show that we've seen 1,000 times before.

My opinion is that you're going to start to see a drop off in the number of shows sometime in the next 3-5 years. The ones who truly are good from all sides - meaning their hosts are entertaining and engaging, they have good camera work and production, and are able to get good footage and kill stuff - will probably make it. The "wannabes" will start to fade in time. Some of the "Bubba's Outdoors" type shows just can't keep up with the new cutting edge stuff like HB, Hallowed Ground Outdoors, Dropped: Project Alaska, Meat Eater, etc.

I took my wife fishing when we first got married. That was 40 years ago. I have been baiting her hook ever since. There is no way I am going to take her hunting.:)

What bugs me more than the couples is the fact that a lot of these shows are 27 minute commercials, 3 minutes of hunting action. I understand paying the bills and all, but when you spend 4 minutes listing your equipment after a kill, I get annoyed. "I could have never killed that buck without my 64" Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious stabalizer and my Beelzebub call that mimics a deer chewing on eathworms. They cant resist that sound."

I watch a LOT of hunting shows - probably more than the average person. And while I do feel there are some shows/people that are worse than others at Sponsor promos, I don't feel it's nearly as bad as people make it out to be.

I said this recently also. I also believe the Pursuit Channel will disappear and the Sportsman channel will fade away eventually too.

Yeah, I have to agree that a lot of shows extremely stupid. I watched a show not to long ago were the guy got dressed in his underarmer suit Scent control. Then went down stairs to eat breakfast with the good ol friends and owner o
F the outfitt. Why bother putting on that crap if your going to eat fried bacon in it?

Plus everyone knows that Al Gore invented the couples show.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but the couples shows don't bother me. What bothers me are the shows that need subtitles so you can understand the cajunese they are speaking. :)

Agreed. I would much rather watch a quality production like Pat and Nicole's than the horrendous camera work and editing that 80% of the other shows have.

I still watch some of the couples show. I DVR everything so I can skip through all the talking and commercials. I mainly just watch the shot and recovery. Shows like HB, WP, some of the Drury's, Dr. Deer, etc I actually watch most of the episode. There is a lot of good information they give out. Online I love Midwest Whitetail, Growing Deer.tv, and of course Bowhunt or Die. The couples thing is ok but I would much rather watch the shows more geared to teaching and hunting than selling products and commercials. To an extent they all do it though...

Maybe...I guess ratings and sponsors ultimately decide the fate of various shows and tv personalities. But for me personally....I used to watch several shows a week on a regular basis but I haven't watched a hunting show in probably close to two years due to what in my opinion is "over commercialization". I am 100% capitalistic and support free enterprise but when the host of the show says he or she "had" to have "such and such' product in order to be successful, they lose credibility, at least with me. A few mentions during the show that says this show is possible thanks to the sponsorsip of "xxxxx" company would be much more effective, at least with me.

As far as "couple" shows...I support whoever wants to hunt and enjoy the outdoors, but no I do not enjoy these shows. I have a wonderful wife of almost 30 years....The secret of our success....We have our own hobbies...but that is us...we are not representative of everyone but i suspect a fairly large percentage of the targeted audience for hunting shows feels the same way as us.

Ahhh what do I love most about most hunting videos/shows? I think it just might be the hunter watching 20 deer in a green field of some sort while trying to decide which of the 5 bucks he/she will take. I especially like when the hunter is like 5 or 6 years old or a woman and shows almost 0 interest in the monster on the ground afterwards. Awesome. It's almost like there is a quota on kids and women on these things now but there isn't really a requirement for the person to actually know anything about hunting. No offense to actual women and kid hunters out there.

I thoroughly enjoyed the recent HB episode with the little guy Clay. He seems like a real life hunter not just someone stuck out there to shoot something. Unfortunately that type of show/episode is in the minority.

All of that said I still watch(mainly videos) because I like to see the deer and it gets me even more excited for the season. It also helps that Wal-mart has lots of them in the $5 section these days so I get a few and just fast forward through the stuff that irks me.
