The current state of affairs in England would make shooting a rabbit with a bow an illegal act, so therefore British bow hunters, of which there are some, are forced to hunt outside the UK. I'd like to make my first bow hunt this summer, though as I'd have to travel I'm unsure of my options. I was thinking of something like hogs in Texas, or some kind of ranch. As it'd be my first time hunting with a bow I think hogs would be the easiest? I will consider Africa, though it can get quite pricey quickly and I want to shoot quite a bit. DA
Hogs anywhere in southern US are good options. Normally dont cost so much compared to everything else, and high success rate for sure, especially if you give yourself a fair amount of time.
Thanks vey much. I'm still in the early days of planning, but will be looking into a full week hunting Texas.
Maybe while you are here, book a flight to shoot pigs out of a helicopter with an AR15. Now thats the America Experience!! In all seriousness, find a good reputable ranch in texas and go for a guided or semi guided pig hunt, lots to kill and they are good eating!
Will seek advice about actual places nearer the time, but yeah I'd like to shoot quite a few hogs, plus any small game.
Have you ever tried Bowfishing? I know it is somewhat unpopular in the UK because carp are considered a sport fish, but here they are invasive and plentiful and are a blast to shoot with a bow. In texas you can go out for trips for huge alligator gar, daytime or night. Lots of good guys down there that know where the fish are. it would be a fun way to break up a week of hog hunting!
