I have seen both sides of the coin there. After a TIA, while in the emergency room, a doctor came in and asked "Are you taking your cholestral meds?" I answered I was, and she then asked if I was taking my insulin. I said "No!" at which point she started to lecture me. I said "Doc" and she told me to be quiet until she was finished. As she continued to rake me over the coals the nurse looking over her shoulder at the chart said "THIS Mr. Cooper is not a black male." She had the wrong chart. The doctor then started ranting at the nurse for not making sure she (the doctor) had grabbed the correct chart. Another time, I had a nurse during a procedure that saw I was anxious about what was going on and she kept talking to me and reassuring me. Afterward the procedure was over they gave me something to knock me out for a while to recover. When I came to, she was still there monitoring my vitals. She immediately went and brought back the doctor with the biopsy results. I was duly impressed with her care of me. I guess it just depends on the facility and the day.
