If I were told I had to consume fast food or use mary jane each day there is no question which one I would pick. NOT the fast food.

I have never heard of the crime associated with fast food and I am sure you are one that has never consumed fast food?

I was not talking about the health element, but the crime element. I am glad you make healthy choices.

I believe the health element was already brought up. And yes I believe fast food does more harm to the overall health of society than marijuana does and it's not even close. So it is fair to compare the two.

That argument was debunked years ago as a wives tale. It was like 80+% of people that tried pot never moved on to heavier drugs.

If that is a factual number, wouldn't that mean 20% did move on to harder drugs?

All I know is that my life experiences tell me that even pot legalization is a bad idea. This may be the only issue I agree with chris mathews on.

There has to be a line somewhere, for me, alcohol is the line.

Now we know you are lying... good luck hitting the bowl daily withOUT then eating fast food at some point later on...

I think most people who are in favor of legalizing ALL drugs are either A) drug users or B) people who have very little to zero personal experience with said drugs via family/friends.

And for the sake of argument I am leaving Marijuana out when discussing "drugs" above, because it is less mind altering and less harmful to your health than alcohol which is already legal.

Do you honestly believe alcohol to be less mind altering or safer for your health than marijuana? Not leading just looking for honest answers out of curiosity. I like seeing how different people view these topics.

I don't like where the thc takes people in their thought processes.

Yes, I do think it is worse for the country as a whole.

From a financial point for a state, legalization isn't necessarily a bad thing for them.let the feds deal with it.

And people never make bad decisions on alcohol.

Where does THC take a person's thought process?

    Doritos, Funyuns, Taco Bell?

I'm doing it from memory I could probably find the article again but I just don't care that much. Yes let's say 20% of people moved on to stronger drugs, out of that 20% some moved to coke or crack while others moved towards Ecstacy or other mind bending drugs. Also included were the 1 and done people who moved on and said nope not for me. I would cut the percentage of people that moved on to heroin to be vary low. So the "gateway argument" doesn't hold water, pots there and if it wasn't these people would still be looking for a stronger fix.

That's not what im talking about.

I see people on daily basis who are truly unispred from the affects.

Hell, I found a roach at work a few weeks ago and the bosses found a 1 hitter pipe today. I've been around the stuff my whole life, as well as a lot of alcoholics in my family.

In moderation I would say yes... I would much rather have an employee come back from lunch having had two beers than two bowls... From my past observations, the 2 beer employee is going to be more productive.....

I'm not a drug user, and I've had family/friends who have had their lives ruined by drugs. They ruined their lives while drugs were illegal.

My thoughts are that people that want to use hard drugs, are going to use hard drugs, whether they are illegal or not, so let's stop wasting resources on these people.

That could be true - I suppose that would depend on how big the beer and bowl were :-)

Lol I was about to say the same thing. Two beers would be closer to two hits off a one-hitter.

I agree it can make people lazy, but I just think alcohol abuse is far worse for society, family life, and your personal health than marijuana abuse.

Personally I hope to never reach the point of abuse with any substance though lol. Trying an experiment of sorts this winter/spring. Going on 3 weeks sober now trying to reinvent how I go have fun on the weekends.

I can drink a beer and not be drunk. Can a person smoke one joint and not be high? One hit?

I've never done it so I wouldn't know.

I've been around it, and it seemed like once they took a hit or 2, they were to the point where I would have not trusted them to drive.
