Ending the Prohibition certainly lowered alcohol related crime.

This topic is another reason why I feel states rights should be stronger. If people want to live in a community where certain drug use is tolerated, have at it. If groups of people don't mind paying for a drug addicts rehab costs via local/regional/state laws, then have at it.

Now, if people don't want to pay for a persons cruddy decisions to use heroin for example, then there should places in this country where a person shouldn't have to fork over money to help a person who repeatedly doesn't want or care to help themselves.

We all don't have to be the same in order to be Americans and to care for one another and when the time comes, to kick in and protect one another for our freedom to make choices at a much smaller level than the federal government.

Yes they are Hooker. We have tons of drugs already in our lives and we already act nutty as a society. I know what you are trying to tease out and believe me, if we had it my way, many things would be legalized and people would just bare the pain of their own mistakes instead of government being required to be involved.

Weed was once thought of as an illicit drug that "responsible" people would not partake in. Now over 50% of the country has used it? You tell me.

    How many tried drinking first?

How many folks who have smoked marijuana never moved onto harder drugs?

We also have a tendency as a society to somehow equate man made laws with "God's" law, hence demonizing people who violate these man made laws. Like someone sitting on their back porch smoking a joint is the devil him/herself/itself.

    Societal wise? Yes.

Health wise? Not much of a stretch

Junk food has been proven to be addictive and destroys lives through obesity and heart disease.

So no, not much of a stretch at all, IMO.

It will become more prevalent and open. Plus, being able to lock them up once such activity becomes known.

That doesn't happen if it is decriminalized.
