And ftr I'm not trying to take anything away from those men and women. I'm sure theirs is one of the toughest most dangerous not to mention unappreciated jobs out there. I'm a fan of the Amidst The Noise videos that are out there and I find it interesting that statistically crimes and crime trends are very easy to pinpoint to certain areas and an LEO in one area could have one of the most dangerous careers out there while one 150 miles away has a much easier road. One of the stats I read on the LEAP website that I feel is worth mentioning is the fact that drug crimes by sheer volume overburden the system:

"In the U.S.’s overburdened criminal justice system, nearly four of ten murders, six of ten rapes and nine of ten burglaries go unsolved." (USDoJ)

    40% unsolved murders
    60% unsolved rapes
    90% unsolved burglaries

While I certainly don't believe decriminalizing drugs solves those issues the numbers themselves show there are some serious resource allocation problems within the system. Like I said before I don't believe there are easy answers but there are definitely questions.

I've seen alcohol ruin many more of my friends lives than all other substances put together. I've seen meth destroy people. Literally take a beautiful thoughtful girl and turn her into a thoughtless ugly waste of life. It's sad. The truth is that as an individual if you are ok with destroying your life you can do that using drugs alcohol unhealthy foods guns lots of things. Weather or not these things are legal they are still here and readily available. It's up to YOU to choose what is best and it is up to YOU to influence the youth to guide their judgments.
It's clear to me that the government isn't concerned exactly with our best interests. However we are still the sheep and we must obey. But even if drugs were legal ( which they will never be ) we don't have to consume them. I'm not worried about my future children being influenced into drug use because I will be the one influencing. And yes it's true and very obvious that many parents these days have a much weaker connection with their children than they should. That sucks and a lot of the time that causes the problem to start. Good parenting has an awesome effect on the choices of their children.
Moral of the story I guess here is that you hold the reins of you. And unfortunately if someone decides to guide themselves down a path of destruction that is what they are going to do, be it legal or not. Unless someone helps. Be that person. Step up and go out of your way to help a person if given the chance. Sometime all people need is a little guidance and a feeling of self-worth.

The dirtbags that are involved with all that is "the drug trade" will continue to be dirtbags, regardless of the law. I am not talking about guys selling a small baggie of marijuana or guys smoking joints, I am talking about the dirtbags that just live life on the darkside, regardless of the law. They will never stop.

Many of those rapes, murders, and burglaries are committed by people under the influence of drugs, or are committed to gain money to buy more drugs.

....and the first counterfeit packaging/labels will be hitting the streets before the ink is dry on the bill that legalized the drugs; not to mention the re-use of the same containers again and again. Think that one out for a minute.

    Your too negative.

All the dealers will be officially certified and licensed by a new federal conglomerate formed to over see and enforce the new 1500 pages of laws and regulations.

the FDA can't handle it ...those poor souls are three years behind on the latest erectile disfunction medications. You cant ask them to take on more work.

We will also need the federal employee unions to step up to the plate. We can't have these dealers working in deplorable conditions. The AFGE can start a chapter for the Bloods,....who will step up for the Crips? Don't worry about the Italians ...we already have our unions all set.

OSHA will need in on it too, smoke detectors, sprinklers, fire extinguishers and safety equipment.

Let's not forget the IRS expansion....hey we need to collect those drug sales tax.....and we all love the IRS.
