I leave out tomorrow morning! Can't believe it's finally here. Hopefully I'll be back in a couple weeks with a story and some pictures. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
Halfway through Nebraska. Weather is looking perfect for when we arrive and I hear the elk are bugling. 13 more hours of windshield time and we'll be at our camping spot. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
1 more day and 1400 more texts from bz_711 and the rest of the hunting party :D. Last day, of work with a 500 mile flight home. Pack, a sleep, 2 more flights (1500 miles) till Colorado. Focusing today may be a challenge.
Bill...it should be closer to only 500 texts today...I've got some scrambling prep to do as well My mind is already there...
That cow I got last week... here let me post another pic... Bwahahaha. (Yeah, I'm still pretty pumped that I managed to get it done).. was being followed by a small 6x6 bull. He was so into pushing those cows he got within 20 yards of me even after I shot the one he was pushing. BTW, he had the most pathetic bugle ever. Lol The bull hunters have said this last week has been really good. Good luck ya'll! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
Congrats, nice shot! I say it often - in my experience a cow is harder to bag with a bow than a bull. I've had multiple close bull encounters but only once have I had a cow in bow range and I skipped an arrow off her back (I ranged a rock at 40, shot for 40, and she was at 24 when I ranged the spot after the fact...guess that rock was further down the hill then it looked )
Congratulations Christine! Very nice. I finished a six day hunt last night when three cows and two calves walked past me at 26 yds. The bull behind them didn't follow the script and turned off the path to cut them off. It was a great week with several encounters and a 24 yard shot opportunity I passed on a 5x5. We covered around 40 miles in those six days and every step was worth it. We hunted in rain, sleet and snow. Yesterday it was in the 20's when we left camp. Here are a few pics I posted on the public lands thread.
I'm going to be riding this high for awhile. On the night of day 3, my buddy bugled this bull right into my lap. More pictures and a story to come later. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
Matt (bz_711) owes a followup to this thread. It's his story to tell, but it was epic! I'm glad to have been able to tag along. Thanks Matt!
For those interested, I started a thread in the main Bowhunting section detailing my hunt. Still doesn't seem real! Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
