Me and my dad are looking at possibly booking an elk hunt. I'm not really sure how to approach this, and I have a lot of unanswered questions. What states offer a good Elk hunting experience? More specifically, what are some reputable outfitters from those states? Do we have to apply for a tag in a lottery? If so, when? Is there any sure way of getting a tag? How much $? What time of year is best to book a hunt? Sorry for writing a book of questions, but if there is anyone out there with some elk hunting experience, your advice would be appreciated.

Colorado is at the top of the list hands down. Everything you could want or need to know can be found on the DNR website. OTC tags, lots of public land, and lots of elk!
