    I am not a decoy user...I tried it one season, but it was just one more thing I needed to do. I prefer to use the time in cutting the distance.

    saw the first calf elk of the spring this morning, woke up, looked out my bedroom window and out in the pasture was momma and a fresh calf.. love this time of year.. I can honestly say I have seen more elk this bear season out bear hunting than I have ever seen, easy winter.. and wolf season has something to do with it.

    Agree with you there! No calves/or fawns yet this year for me. But I have seen more elk this spring than I have in previous years I believe. Seen a few bulls already with awesome growth. I think it will be a good season for us panhandlers;)

    I just poped an instant elk.
    onto ebay,
    instant elk fold into about a 14 to 16" circle lay flat and can be squished or squeezed to comform and pop into a back pack with ease. weigh just about a pound
    when we hunt, we usaly hunt two or three guys together and we each carry one or two.
    I personaly always carry (3) decoys.

    wish there were some bow hunters on this forum,
    or at least had a area we could gather,
    love to deer hunt w/ bow.
    But holly crap its nothing compaired to elk hunting with a bow.

    the problem I have right now is that i will be gone for 14 days of that down to Costa Rica hunting bugs and birds and other critters on film.

    how have you guys & gals done this year?
    my season went to fast.
    never went that early before, promiss you never again either, had to many encounters with bears.
    and so many hunters, it stunk.
    next year and i'm already counting down.
