OK, First here is a video I shot. This was our first night in Colorado at "The Rock"...we were there 5 minutes and started to hear some elk fire up......gotta watch the rest. As a friend once said after watching elk video's, "If this doesn't light your fire, then your wood must be wet !"
Where was 2008 elk camp ?? Thanks guys for the comments...it does the trick for me in the off season !!
Here are some pictures from my most recent solo backpack scouting trip. Area had some mule deer and elk tracks. However, not enough sign to warrant the 4 hour hike back. Beautiful area none to less! Most of these pictures were taken at 7,000-8,000 ft. Most of our elk are taken at 3800-4500ft, so I was pretty high in comparison. Pack weighed in at about 28-29lbs with enough food for three days. Did not know the water aspects so most of my weight was in extra water. North Idaho at it's best!
Leadville is great , I wanna spend a bit more time their this time and take a look in some antique shops ... I also want a Cowboy hat to take home :p
When you guys are in Leadville, be sure to eat at Quincy's for the filet...no menu, just 3 choices and believe me its worth it. Also have to hit the Old Saloon....now back to more elk hunting stories
Since I was too dumb to bring my camera out while setting up our tree stands, here is a flyover I found on youtube of where we are going hunting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tvwt-jAG5A8
