Elk calls

ELK CALLS:
Just picked up some new calls. Who else is calling and what type of calls do you prefer, why?

I like the Primos diaphragm with the shield over the latex. With that shield it fits right in the rough of my mouth. Works good for me. I like to use a couple different kind of cow calls.

 

Thanks brother! I like the ones I got but as with any good call you are still the other half of the equation. Practice is needed here for sure.

 

You can never get enough practice. My wife may think other wise

How is the practicing going with your elk calls

 

Busted!!! Been shooting and keep leaving them diaphragms in the house...think one is still in the truck. I like to call ELK in while driving down the freeway. The answer is ...I need to practice more.

Prophesying a tag would be a Huge motivator with my true odds.

 

On that note there is always the lotto and OTC tags to the North. Hopefully 2014 will be a good year and I will either draw here or be better positioned to hit the road.

Good to see that your practicing your elk calling

 

Yeah, but you know as well as I do one can not be great at everything...

 

In preparing for my first elk hunt next fall and being an elk calling newbie, an elk guide friend recommended the Mac daddy. Seems easy enough to use based on YouTube videos and a good dual purpose bugle/cow call. Anyone else use this call?

 

I use a diaphram as much as my GF does. Just make sure You grab the right one.

So tonight...LAUGHING MY FACE OFF OVER HERE...I was hanging with my son and his friend / cousin ... and heard the front door and KNEW IT WAS my Daughter and her friend / cousin returning from Grandma's house.. gigling like girls do I KNEW WHO WAS COMING IN... Grabbed the estrus excited diaphram and the bully bull grunt tube, .. crouched down by the front door ... and as soon as that door cracked open BLASTED EM WITH A FULL BUGLE FOLLOWED BY SOME GRUNTS!!! They almost fell over and me and the boys were rolling in the floor!
