I recently moved to Montana and found out that my Elite Ritual 30, which has an 85% let off, is not allowed to hunt with here. Looking to trade it for another compound. Its 2 years old and in perfect shape. I am looking to trade barebow for barebow. Not hung up on brands but am looking for the speed as speed goats move fast...lol. Depending on what you have I have a custom elk antler hunting knife I would throw in the deal.

What makes that compound not allowed to hunt with exactly?

Does it have to be 80% to use it? I knew some states have some sort of let off requirement. Does Elite have the cams in the required range? If it were me, I'd rather swap cams than get used to a new bow right before season, but that's just me. Just a thought.

You can a ritual cam down to 80 let off easy enough , no need for a new cam. Assuming that your bow is already tuned.

First ~ Move the draw stops all the in.
Next ~ take 5 twists out of each cable
Last~ put 5 twists in the string

Measure the let off with a draw board, that will get you close…and is a good starting point

Thats all good and I appreciate the info however when the FWP agent stops me after getting an elk he's only going to look at the specs for the bow and confiscate it and possibly the elk depending on how big of a ****** he wants to be.

They passed a law no bow is allowed more then 80% let off while my Ritual has 85%. Their thoughts are that it aids in hunting to the point of an unfair advantage.

It has to be 80% or less. I havent looked into whether Elite has different cams for that but it still boils down to the agent looking up the specs and seeing 85% for that model.

The specs on ritual cams are 75 to 90%. So I doubt he can go by that.
Just based on CO which I have hunted several times the odds of you being checked unless it’s for a secondary violation are slim to none. And when they do yes they measure the let off.

I would adjust it down and not worry about it.

Right on and yeah I get that. I know my hoyt Helix comes in both 85 and 80. My cams have 80 engraved in them so I would hope an agent would look at that, not google bow specs and have any reason for citing me. Nobody wants that nightmare. It may be worth looking into as an option, a cheaper, less headache option. Whatever you end up doing, best of luck to you this year.

Id call and speak with an agent. You may be making an unnecessary move, unless you just want the piece of mind
