tfox response to davescountry post got my wheels turning on a question so I figured I would ask. I practice both elevated shooting and ground shooting. Most of my practice is from the ground. For some reason and I can't figure out why, I shoot better from my elevated stand than I do from the ground and way better at a 3D deer than I do at spots or bag with deer silo et. Which do you shoot better at?
Honestly can't say I notice a difference between any of those. I always shoot about the same no matter what I'm shooting at or where I'm shooting from.
Elevated or not makes no difference to me but I hate spots. I have no idea why but even in the yard, I shoot my 3d targets better. For me to play the spot game,I think I would need to go to a circle style aiming aperture to settle my pin and mind.
Up or down makes no difference on my accuracy. I am WAY better at shooting anything but dots! I've put 6 arrows inside the heart out to 60 shooting 3D. I pick a spot out in between the dots then aim for my arrow. We tend to go through arrows a good bit.
Boodady, I hope one day to be that good. So far no robin hoods but, I do have a few broke knocks and a few cut Vanes from shooting. I honestly don't know how I havent split one yet. I hear that familiar sound of arrows sliding against each other on impact a lot lately. Thats from around 35-40 though.
Nothing wrong with being lucky! I'm not good, just lucky! Out to 40 yards shooting groups like that is awesome!
I have been practicing a lot. When I first started I swear I thought I would not get groups like that past 25. I focussed on form forever and once comfortable with that I started focussing on every little thing I could. I just want to be prepaired for my first shot on a deer with a bow. I can't wait!! I have a feeling it will be like no other experience I have ever had.
