Eletric Fence and Deer movement

Discussion in 'Whitetail Deer Hunting' started by Evan Nimalovitch, Aug 21, 2018.

  1. So I hunt a 160 acre plot of land all bush, with cattle on it. The clearing/area I hunt has good deer movement, but also cattle movement.. the cattle really push the deer out fast and eat the feed etc, the land owner suggested I put up a electric fence around my area.. Is this something that will really effect the deer movement??

If it is tall enough, 1 strand will not do much.

  3. I'd rather embarrass myself to you guys than the land owner...! I want to keep it as natural as possible and less invasive then electric fence, even though that may be the best to keep cattle out..

Its a pretty heavy timbered area and im working with not a large area, could a guy use dead fall attached to the current tree's around the 36" mark to keep the cattle out, while still allowing deer to enter without really running the risk of disturbing or spooking them should they contact it..? or is that ridiculous.

Electric fence won't deter a deer one bit. In fact, I believe they go out of their way just to jump over them and wrap them in barbed wire...
