I need a good clamp meter. I borrow a fluke 36 and 337 from work on ocassion, but figure I need to get my own. I need both DC and AC current applications and prefer it to be a Voltmeter too. continuity also a plus. I have been using a fluke 12 DMM for years but it quit working. Fluke has gotten so dadgone expensive. Any good low cost alternatives? Please don't say horrible frieght.
This will probably be a little on the pricey side but compared to a Fluke who knows, I use the a/c only model for work on household appliances. http://www.globalspec.com/datasheets/156/OMEGAEngineering/4E296571-8580-4149-BC8F-B690C3EE2AF4
Actually I found this site price isn't bad at all, you'd be looking for the HHM596 or 599. http://www.omega.com/pptst/HHM590.html
How about the Fluke 333 ? Thats what I use at work and at home. I look at it like this, my life may depend on a dependable meter. why go cheap?
Greg, only reason I ruled out 333 was I didn't think it did DC amperage. I troubleshoot batter chargers and such all the time. Thanks,
I really like my Fluke 336 it has not let me down yet and I use it alot daily. We just recently purchased an amprobe ACDC-100 which has been working good so far but does not feel as rugged as a Fluke. You can find clamp on meters pretty cheap on ebay. I don't think the 333 has DC function either but Im not positive.
