Electricians/electrical type guys-why would my dryer outlet drop from 240V to 120V?

    Brand really has little to do with it.. your neighbor can have the same dryer as you and go 15 years with what yours died doing in 18 months.. just the way it is.

    Sucks you had to deal with such a problem so soon.

    I always reccomend (when asked) people purchase gas dryers.. not that electrical aren't dependable.. gas dryers just have cheaper parts and fewer major problems because they are relatively simple machines.

    Okay my mother in law had a no start problem recently. I found an excessively clogged vent/lint discharge hose was causing heat to rise and the the overtemp switch to trip. This switch does not have an auto reset so it will have to be replaced if that is the issue. I ended up replacing her vent hose and flapper as well as the temp switch. The switch was nine dollars and the hose/flapper was about the same.
