I have a disabled parent too, and it sucks. But I would say approximately 50% of those 47% are worthless bums that are able, but not willing to work. By all means, if you are disabled and not able to work then you should be entitled to help. I honestly hope that is what the guy, who originally made the comment, was trying to say. The truth is: There are always going to be those that take advantage of the system. Regardless of the system, there are abusers of it. This isn't limited to the poor. To lump them all together (which saying the "47%" does) is a problem; a mindset that has to be adjusted. The 47% encompasses a lot of people that do not want to rely on government assistance, but have no choice. Should you, or your loved ones ever be in that position, your attitude might change a bit. Are there problems within the system, of course, few will debate that point. I don't believe they are the majority of the "47%", however.
Just because you are in the 47% does not mean you get assistance from the government. It's why Romney's statement is so ignorant. Some of the those people use the same tax breaks rich folks use to reduce their tax burden.
You're right. I did not mean to say it in that way, merely that it includes those people. I think there are multiple reasons his statement was ignorant. The 47% are the ones we need to worry about the most, in my opinion.
If only election day was the end of the election, which it most likely won't be. Ohio doesn't count provisional ballots until the 16th. Could be a couple weeks before the election is finalized.
Yup OH provisional ballots nor overseas/military vote not counted till 11/17. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/06/us/politics/ohio-law-could-bring-long-delays-in-a-recount.html
Your parent situation is becoming all to common with an aging population and the cost of caring for them. I do understand how trying it can be on all involved. I serve on the boards of three different non profit organizations, if you don't you should give it some thought. When it comes to the fund raising efforts none of it comes from the government, and darn little comes from the 47%, it comes from local men and women, small business and contributions from benefactors. As an example check out Myron Cope's "terrible towel". The governments not the answer, it is the problem. And making it larger expands the problem and does little to solve it. The increase in food stamp recipients should alarm you.The five trillion in new debt should alarm everyone. You do not run a house hold or a business by amassing huge debts and acquiring nothing in assets. You feel that president Obama will help your situation yet when you look into both mens back grounds there is no comparison in their charitable givings.
Well if we're going to use dumb *** comparisons like who gave more money to charity, when one make far more than the other. Lets compare who best candidates for not outsourcing jobs in the private sector? Damn that Romney sucks, lol
I've stated many times this election is about the government spending your kids money, it is the only real difference in either party, we can not afford four more years of trillion dollar deficits or the trillion dollar cost of Obama care. George Bush pissed away hundreds of billions and now this twit has out done even that. I'm going bird hunting for the afternoon, so feel free to continue with out me.
Walking out of the polling place today, there was a young lady in front of me who turned once we were outside and said to me "Well at least my vote will cancel out yours." I asked what she meant by that and she responded "Obama has done so much good for the country and you OLD people just can't see how he's helped you." I laughed at her and told her she had no idea how I voted so instead of possibly having an ally she just ensured herself of an enemy, and then I left. No matter how the popular vote or electoral vote turns out today, I think the American people will be the losers for the next 4 years.
