And then there is the view that unless you are a Republican... you're not a Christian... You see all these are ridiculous labels that we try to pin on one another and we ignorantly end up in these crazy factions, fighting against one another, while those who keep the factions fueled end up with all the power.

Its not conservative against liberal or Christian against non-Christian... It's American against American and a house divided against itself cannot stand.

We have got to stop beating one another up over things we disagree on and begin uniting on the things in which we do agree. Then and only then can we have unity and in unity, enjoy liberty.

In a perfect world yes, but is this practical and realistic?

I consider myself a fiscal conservative but I do believe there should be a safety net for people who actually need it. This safety net should not be easily attainable, and should not be extended if you are capable of work. I firmly believe without this safety net you would see a lot more homelessness and inevitably crime.

It is Christians like yourself that keep me from summarily dismissing anything Christians say as BS. Too bad, in my experience, that you, and those like you, only make up a very tiny fraction of the Christians I have met.

    Agreed.

The ease with which to obtain these means is what irks me, not the fact that fallbacks exist.

Hehehehe...yeah this country wasn't divided by race until Obama got in office.

Say, how did Romney do with white voters? How about white males? Did he divide them or Obama?

I would love to see a black republican candidate someday. Republicans would freak out! They would be stuck at a very difficult crossroad. Now that, would finally get us a third party candidate with some financial backing.

    I still blame Lincoln.

Actually the republicans would have loved to see Condeleeza Rice or even Colin Powell (before he jumped ship) run on the republican ticket.

Thanks Bruce; it is a shame that percentage is so small. Too many view faith as an insulator from the world instead of a connection to it. I am sorry for your negative experiences.

My kids think i am. ;)

My daughter was watching the first debate at college when some girls came in and asked who's winning. My daughter replied Romney, the 2 girls got disgusted and said they hope Obama wins so they could get their school payed for.

My daughter thought to herself that she would rather pay for her school and have a job when she gets out instead if no job and free schooling.:D

Those 2 girls are representative of whats wrong with society today.

Romneys 47% might have been an exaggeration but imo,was proven correct by the election.

Also imo, the republican party needs to get back to the conservative party and actually put a conservative on the ticket instead of these moderates they keep throwing out there.

Of course a social change will have to take place for that to happen.

That's a scary thought. Maybe if Mitt could have been a moderate and still won the primary he could have won the election.

You would be wrong about the 47%, being the bottom ten(poorest) states all went red.
