Neighbors found this on some of our hunting land. Deer herds are so small this year from EHD around here.
Sorry to hear that, hope ur season goes ok none the less. What a pig! Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
Same here in lower Michigan. Over 4,000 reported cases although I would suspect many more have died. On the bright side with the rain we have been getting with cooler temps the spread should slow down. One thing for sure the effected areas will see way less deer this year. Good Luck!!!!!!
Same in Southeast Nebraska I hunt south of Lincoln and we have quite a few cases around here. A guy from work has found 5 dead on their property and the neighbor has found 8. One was a buck every bit as nice as the one that you found. It sucks
I just hate the fact you can't keep them if found...gotta turn them over to the CO's. My friend found one in a river that wasn't fully dead yet...ugh I can't imagine!
I live in weeping water Nebraska , and we found about 50 dead this past weekend. I will try and get some pics of the bigger ones. Its a real shame, If we dont get some rain or some cold weather soon, we might see 40 to 50% of the heard dead.
Im in Holdrege and havnt found any yet south of town where i hunt. Im working in Sumner and the landowner up there said the wood river he owns is full of dead deer. Hearing reports of farmers finding them in the feilds where they have been standing under the pivots and died there.
That's awesome I guess if true in your state...I'd confirm it. Hate to see anyone run into legal troubles over a dead deer head.
I am in the frenchmen valley, I found two (small buck and doe) in the creek beds. So far the herds I have been watching all summer are still mostly intact (a couple got smoked by cars or ran off), but I am missing three bucks I was following through late August. I am nervous to walk the creeks, but I am sure I will before to long to see what I find... hopefully nothing. http://outdoornebraska.ne.gov/hunting/images/ehd/EHD%20Mort%209-14-12.jpg I am hoping for an frost soon, and no indian summer here to kill off these diseases.
I live up in Wayne County but hunt in Dixon county as well. We have found over 10 and a two buddies recently found 20+ with a few being very nice mature bucks. Numbers on trail cameras have certainly fallen. Sad deal
I hunt Johnson and Gage county, the property in Johnson county has definitely been hit hard while the property in Gage county doesn't seem to have lost any deer. Hopefully the colder temps we had over the weekend was enough to knock it out. Obviously the numbers reported are no where near what the actual loss is, this coupled with the earn a buck rifle program is going to put a big dent in the population.
