Just though I'd post this workout program I started a while back. Its just push-ups but I can't believe how effective it's been for me. The best part is it only takes 6min when you first start out. The web site is onehundredpushup.com and it starts you off at your own strength level than gives you a three day a week program to build yourself up to pumping out 100 push-ups in a row. I know some of you can probably already do 100 push-ups but for me it's a big goal. My routine is I'll do them just before I jump in the shower after work. I find that with them only taking me about 10min I can't make up any excuses not to do them so I've stuck with the program. They also have other programs for different exercises.
It's good that you're thinking about health and fitness. But, pushups alone doesn't cut it. You'll want to work your entire body by doing different exercises. If you are doing just body weight exercises, you have a wide variety of things you can do: push up bodyweight squats mountain climbers bends 'n thrusts planks pull ups (use backs of chairs) side straddle hops (jumping jacks) The varieties are nearly endless. While it's a gal that does this, take a look here: http://www.bodyrock.tv her workouts are about 15-20 minutes or less most days. I've done a few workouts here and there and they are certainly challenging.
i use exercise bands that have about 30 lbs resistance on them along with weights and cardio. i know some really don't have the time but 30 minutes is really all that is needed to loosen up the muscles and build a bit of strength.
Everyone can find time to exercise if their health/life depend on it. I consider my life and good health dependent on exercise. I work 12 hours shifts at work and get home at 8:15pm. Hundreds of times in the past year I helped put my three kids in the bath/shower when I got home, then put them in bed around 9pm, then put on my running shoes and ran in the dark even after being on my feet all day at work. I made it a priority for my future.
The way I make time for lifting weights is just by doing it before I do everything else. If I know I have to cut grass early in the morning, I'll wake up a tad bit earlier to get my workout in, then have a protein shake and go cut grass. Bodyweight exercises like push ups are extremely good for the core.
I know not all of you guys are Hoyt guys but they have a pretty cool section on their website with preseason exercise programs, diets and so. I lift 5 days a week, have for years now, and I definitely have noticed a more solid, stronger draw and hold. If anyone wants to check it out, the link is below. http://www.hoyt.com/videos/index.php?c=Hoyt Fitness
Bowflex equipment, come on it has the word bow in it. What's not to like? I use one because I like the way you can target your bow-shooting muscles and it's good for the rest of you body too. Simple set-up, no weights, doesn't take up too much room.
I dunno if you've ever heard about the workout routine called "Insanity". 30-45 mins a day, best workout you'll ever do in your life. Great cardio and strength building exercises.
