Why is it that EVERY tree that I want to set up in is covered in poison ivy?

    It NEVER fails!!!

Now That Sucks!!!! I checked out a stand we put up a couple years ago to see if it was still in good shape and when I climbed up to it I noticed the biggest Wasp nest I have seen in awhile. You can bet I got out of there in a hurry!!!

I hear ya buddy.....Boy oh boy do I hear ya. I was prepping a tree a couple weeks ago and wore rubber gloves to pull all the vines off the tree. I thought for sure I would end up with it, but....alas I got lucky. Man I hate that stuff.

LOL!! Too funny Greg, last night I was climbing up a big oak and got to where I had to clear some branches and vines out of the way, my buddy was standing below me and whispered, dont you get poison ivy real bad, I replied yeah and immediately knew I was F'd lol. My hands are all jacked up, in between my fingers etc, oh man what a mess.

I get it bad at least once a year from hanging stands. The best trees always seem to be covered.

If you cut the vines at the base and let it go a week at least you won't have to contend with the leaves.

I hear ya, Andy... I had webbed fingers so bad when I was in undergrad school working at a sporting goods store I simply refused to work. I felt ok, but I looked SO gross! The owner of the store insisted I didn't look that bad, and could keep on ringing people up... I was like "Uh, no way..." If I were a customer, I'd have been grossed out. Seriously, the "webbing" extended halfway down my fingers...

Thankfully, that was the first year I learned about Kenalog shots. I have to get at least two a year, unfortunately.

We ran beagles a BUNCH growing up, and I'd oftentimes get it from handling them putting them back in their pens. Worst case was -- and you're not hardly going to believe this -- when I was like 7 or 8 and Dad and I were fishing a ditch bank under an old bridge. I had to go really bad, and didn't have any toilet paper... I grabbed a handful of leaves, and ... well, you guessed it. I was just COVERED from one end to the next a day or so later. Mom had to run warm water and pour corn starch in it and I'd just sit and soak almost all day. Missed almost a week of school from that little escapade.

I've got it all over my arms right now. Sure is a pleasure to wake up in the middle of the night scratching your flesh off:bash: Oh well, just part of the routine at this point. Last year I climbed my stand and started breaking small branches off of the adjacent tree and then I realized it was actually a poison ivy vine that I was handling. That was pretty fun. I swear sometimes I am amazed that my brain has enough power to remind me to breath.

That is amazing. Usually allergies just get worse with age and further exposure. You are one lucky dog.
