I'm kicking around the idea of purchasing a UTV to be used solely for hunting and food plotting (pulling mower and disc). My dad is handicapped and last year was his first year back hunting since '08. He is able to use our 4 wheeler, but it is 15 years old and kind of time for an upgrade anyways. I figured a UTV would be a little bit easier on him too.

So far, I like the looks of the Polaris Ranger 570. It's not the beast like the other versions, but still an upgrade over the Honda Rancher 350 I have been used to. I don't need bells and whistles or anything like that. Would probably add a winch and snow plow at a later time.

Any other suggestions, or better bang for your buck versions out there that you have had experiences with?

How important is speed ? How many people would you like to haul?

2 people is all it will need to haul.

Speed isn't a huge factor as I rarely trail ride anymore. Would just depend on the trade off/price difference between choices.

I have a Prowler 1100, it's nice and has a lot of power but it does steer hard and is bulky

Polaris Rangers are awesome machines. The new 570s have roughly the same horsepower as my 2009 Sportsman 800 I believe. I wouldn't think twice about going with a Polaris if I were in the market for a UTV. If you are super serious about pulling things with it, you could even track down a diesel Ranger (I don't know how much they are, could be a lot).
