I just wanna see if it's for me (predator hunting). I'm only certain we have coyotes, here. I've seen maybe 10 in 6 yrs of deer hunting (5-6 of them were together at one time). I have no idea if there's enough of them to hunt with any legitimate chance of success. I turkey hunt, though. So, I'm used to being humiliated. What's a fair, economical caller I could pick up....to see if I like it? Thanks.
We've had good luck with this call...my buddy bought it at Gander MTN for ~120$ I think, the price listed seems pretty high (on the primos website) than at retail stores? https://shop.primos.com/pc-1046-21-power-dogg.aspx
I have the primos powerdogg e-call along with 2 primos mouth calls, the hot dog and the ki-yi. The powerdogg is great, but it seems to be a little quiet for anything more than a slight wind. The mouth calls (especially the hot dog) seem to be quite a bit louder. I've heard the $199 foxpro is a lot louder, but the powerdogg should suit you just fine.
I have much better luck with hand calls. Tony Tebbe makes some awesome calls, one or two is all you'd need to start out.
agreed. the most affordable way to start out is with mouth calls, rite now the "predator quest" mouth call is on my want list. but i've used a $9 mouth call for the last decade.
Couldn't agree more about the mouth calls, have an electronic call that stays home 90% of the time. I just have some cheap primos mouth calls, just make sure it's an open reed call if you're in sub-freezing tempatures so the call doesn't freeze up. If you like bowhunting and turkey hunting, you're going to be addicted to predator hunting in no time. Good Luck!

I too like hand calls, but dont limit yourself to just distress type calls. My success rate improved once I starting using barks and howls with a hand call.
