Its a sad day , but a huge victory for freedom. Many people are going to loose big money,
, but the line was crossed.

What a bunch of dumb ****s to take a hard stance on something (banning select firearms and magazines in the show)that is none of their effing business and ruin this show and so many peoples enjoyment as well as all those companies income... They can go back to Europe and stay there. No room for anymore idiots here, we have our fill in MA, NY, Cali and D.C.

So, if they call it "postponed" will they hold the exhibitors money? They didn't say it is cancelled.

What a joke of a company.

Has anyone heard why they did not try to do this at the SHOT show in Vegas? They were in charge of that as well, yet something in a matter of a week changed their opinion. Something doesn't make sense

We have just learned that Reed Exhibitions has decided to postpone the 2013 Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show.

In the days following Reed Exhibitions’ announcement that modern sporting rifles would be prohibited from the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, the leadership of the National Shooting Sports Foundation

(NSSF) has been in intense, frank discussions with Reed Exhibitions management

in an effort to reverse this unacceptable decision. These discussions reached an impasse.
NSSF is in no way affiliated with, nor does it participate in or exhibit at this show in any way. Reed Exhibitions does, however, manage the NSSF-owned SHOT Show (though Reed manages the SHOT Show, all SHOT Show decisions, policies and actions are made at NSSF’s direction).

Because of Reed’s recent actions, NSSF is considering all options regarding the management of future SHOT Shows.

So they're hypocrites as well, anything to make a buck. They couldn't make a stand denouncing the promotion of the SHOT show but when they could control something they wait until monies had been received to announce a prejudice against the very guns they profited from just a week before.

I was thinking the same thing Dan. So what, they just say its postponed until further notice and keep vendors $$?!?! If they had any shred of decency left they'd refund the vendors and concede that they were wrong by allowing themselves to be swayed so easily by the BS!!

But I'm sure there is still a ton to "come out in the wash".

for all of you who are Brit bashing, I am a Brit. I moved to Alabama from Scotland in 2005.

Not all Brits (whether English, Welsh, Scottish, or Northern Irish) are as cynical as Reed is. Having said that, ESOE being cancelled is good news indeed.

Refunds will be provided for all fees paid to date (January 24, 2013) to Reed Exhibitions for the 2013 Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show. We will detail the refund process on our web site and in an additional email by January 31, 2013.

Agree...we need to get rid of Reed from anything in our country. Screw them, they can stay overseas.
Glad the vendors will get their money back, that is good news.

Now the big question....this is HUGE news, that has NATIONAL impact. I wonder if mainstream media will make a mention of it? I know its all over PA local stuff, but my guess is it doesn't get a sniff on mainstream media. Maybe Fox News will cover it, but I doubt NBC, ABC, CBS...

Some where there has to be a lonely guy who proposed this ban at the show. His world has crumbled and he'll probably loose his job. Life is good. LOL

The announcement from Reed's itself is very condescending if you ask me. Instead of apologizing and admitting it made a mistake, it says

"It is unfortunate that in the current emotionally charged atmosphere this celebratory event has become overshadowed by a decision that directly affected a small percentage of more than 1,000 exhibits showcasing products and services for those interested in hunting and fishing."

In other words, we can't understand what all the whining is about.
