Eastern Sports and Outdoor Expo - The fall out

It appears that the fishing/boating crowd is starting to slowly follow suit. My guess is that those that are left are starting to figure that the crowds will be down significantly, making any profit from the show negligible at best.

Glad to see everyone standing up for this. So long as the little guys that attend don't get hurt much financially, I'd love to see the show be a ghost town by the end of the week.

Wild Evolution will be boycotting the Sportsman Show in support of the 2nd amendment.

 

Goodness this stinks. I mean Im so glad so many have stood up for whats right and all, just hate to know how much money is going to be lost by the wrong people.

 

One of the smarter statements.

 

Hopefully folks that were going there for a reason to buy something are smart enough to go to the companies websites and still make a purchase.

As for the Outfitters/Guides, you can still talk to them and book your hunt, probably get more quality info from them on the phone, I mean with the nuts to butts crowd at the Show how much "time" can someone put forth??

Imagine how much money actually is at stake for some to lose if these nut jobs get their way....

 

And Reed has still not made a comment. I guess they got what they wanted... booth fees paid up front and don't really give a crap about the feelings of those who have made this event such a spectacular event in the past. They got their money this year... but if they don't do something.... we the people... will make sure they don't get it next year. Their gravy train will come to an end. Maybe "WE the People" should organize the show for us. Cut out the Limey do gooders and have us an American/sportsman/hunter event. Reed does nothing to help us or further our believes for 51 weeks of the year. What gives them the right to take this one week where we look forward to and make a political statement that is against every thing we believe in. WE the people can change this. If Reed wants to come along... they better do it soon... because we have the power. They're feeling the heat... and won't comment. They have their money this year.... but if they don't reconsider.... the show is dead...and then some enterprising individual or company will pick up the slack and we will be back. Your decision Reed.

I'm thinking Justin is the man with the drive and innovation to pull off such a venture. I for one would be willing to provide funds and assets to make such a thing come true. I'm to old to do the work... but I'd support those willing to give it a shot. Hell, we all know Justin could do it better anyway. He'd never screw us in the back

 

If I had to guess I'd say vendor booth fees are only a quater of there profit.

It was my understanding that booths at the show ran from $400-$10K. If that is the case, then I'd think its safe to assume that a large part of the profit comes from booth space.

 

Last year a 10' x 10' booth was just over $2000 but then they hit you with hidden costs like electric, parking, extra passes. I did not check this year because when we were deciding I knew I could not swing the 2 weeks away it would take.

 

Large portion of the vendor money goes to pay for the venue. Foot traffic is all profit.

I work with a guy putting on a motorcycle show this weekend. He had to put up his money to get the venue and was really nervous until he filled the slots for the venue to recoup his initial investment.

I would ask him more about it but he isn't here today. Might be getting ready for show.

That sounds pretty realistic so it will be up to the public to hurt Reed for this decision. I have heard there is anywhere from 400,000 to 700,000 people that go to this show, and at $14 bucks a pop that would be a loss of 5.6 to 9.8 million and that doesnt count all of the parking and concessions.
