Eastern Sports and Outdoor Expo - The fall out

I've attended this show ever since I was a little kid. Reed Expo's, the company that puts the show on, has decided to ban all Assault Weapons from the show. Now, there apparently is a huge fallout happening. The biggest comes in the form of Cabelas. They announced that they are pulling all sponsorship from the show and will not be attending. It gets better. Many of the hunting celebs that were slated to be there, Lee and Tiffany, Ralph and Vicki, Fred Eichler, etc., have now all announced that they will not be attending the show. These names are huge draws for the show and their absence is definitely going to be felt.

For anyone planning on going, the crowds might be a little lighter this year!

 

I applaud these companies and celebs for making a stand. Definitely some big names involved now.

 

I jus read this on another site, idk about the rest of the celebs but apparently that lee and tiffany are gonna release a statement later this week. Be kinda interesting what else happens with all this. Its too bad places are doin that kinda stuff, I'm sure there's some people that count on those kinda shows for some income but its good to see companies like cabelas and some people that have more of a voice than the average joe disagreeing with what's happening.

Im real glad so many are standing up for what's right. Really makes me feel had for the venders that will be there and can't afford to back out. But this show needs to lose money on this.

Glad to see so many stepping up.

 

I was thinking of not going this year, but a buddy and I have business to tend to. I think its great that these companies and individuals are making a bold statement like this.

 

I was booking a sept 2014 hunt down at the show. I am not going now, I will book it online or possibility with a different outfitter, am waiting to hear back if he is still attending.

This show is a moment of clarity for me, companies in this industry that aren't supporting us in the is fight aren't getting my money.

 

I should add that Cabelas dropping the sponsorship made me smile. That's a BIG one.

I should also add that since the company running the expo is a privately owned company and they have their full right to block/ban what they want from the show, the way it's being done and the circumstances in which these decisions were made leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Fallout on facebook....also they aren't updating the show website fast enough to keep up with the drop outs.

 

I have much respect for those individuals and companies who have the guts and integrity to stand up for our 2A rights. God Bless your decision!

It would be tough to lose that investment. But I think it really shows where their priorities are! Kudos!!!

 

Taking a stand is never easy, I think on the surface it seems like a hard choice.....But in business we having a saying ...your first loss is you best loss.

For example, the outfitter the I wan to book with....I am waiting to hear back from as to is attendance. I was carrying down three deposits for a 2014 hunt....that 18K on the three hunts. He goes to the show I am booking someplace else period.

If the drop outs keep up at this pace, Justin and Todd may one of the only vendors there.
