I would suggest going to CT, if you haven't done so already. Longer public land season sep-15th-nov15th (ish) private land runs till jan31st, as well as bow only areas. They just passed the law so you can hunt sunday. You are allowed 3 bucks and 3 does for $144 NR license.

I hunted CT public land for the first 20 years before buying my own property in RI. I suggest checking out Nipmuc state forest in Union CT(9000ac.) as well as the bowhunting only area (more crowded) Bigelow hollow state park. I've only hunted Nipmuc and have had great success yearly. The last 5 years I hunted there I haven't encountered another hunter in the woods, or in the parking lot for that matter. Definitely worth checking out.

It's an easy ride on I-90 East to I-84 in Sturbridge (where I grew up) down cross the line into Union. It's definitely worth the money for tags. I grew up in MA, but only hunted MA one season due to the horribly short season. even with the yearly opportunity to hunt my grandparents 200 acre farm, just not worth it!
