Here in northeast pa 2 hrs from the city. No power lots of wind. Transformers blowing up all over the place. Watching tv with the generator till the cable goes out
Im from South Jersey but not near the beachs we got ALOT of rain and heavy winds nothing too crazy but they say theres another day of this kinda weather
Hitting us straight on in south central, PA. Been getting texts about barns being blown down. We still have power but the people half a mile down the road don't. Heard a couple of cracks outside but sounds like branches just falling. ' Will update you guys tomorrow. Headed out in the morning to check out the damage.
We have been lucky in western PA. We have had some wind and a bunch of rain but nothing compared to what was forecasted! People have been in a frenzy since yesterday and all it has added up to is an extended strong thunderstorm. I am actually thinking that I may be able to get a hunt in tomorrow evening!
Fairing rather well here in the 'Burgh desipte the local news doing everything they can to strike fear into the populous. Kinda sad when there are millions of people far worse off than we are, but the news has to make it feel like we are part of those unfortunate ones. Hang tight you guys getting hammered, although many of you dont have the electricity to read this.
Hang in there guys... we are praying on this end. We went through Hugo, Opel, Ivan, Katrina and a host of others. One thing... don't plug a generator into a household outlet if you lose power. That was the number 1 killer from Hugo. If you need repairs do not pay anyone "up front." If they are a legitimate company, they will have the resources to purchase materials.
I am so sick of the melodramatic news media... they close all the schools in Erie County .... its raining outside ....rain.... a little wind...... I can't stand them....
How would you even do that? It seems to me you would need a cord with two male ends and that would have to be "home made".
I have one of those .... I made it during the October storm years ago....worked like a charm ... but we were smart enough to keep the generator outside
Exactly... but people were making them and plugging them in reverse to power their house without pulling their meters and were repowering the lines the rescue guys were working on. The power guys would check before working on the lines but they never knew when they would become energized.
I was going to make a thread about this very thing. Unbelievable they closed all the schools here for this thing? It's a "little breezy" out and not even raining here this morning. I would go out on a limb and say a typical fall day. They made it sound like a Cat 4 was going to anihilate central NY. Got a little rough yesterday afternoon and evening, but that was about it. Different story on the coast and I wish all well there. But here? Pretty fall day.
