Packing in a backpack and climber isn't bad until you have a mile + trek in , any tips on using a shoulder strap for the climber or putting the backpack on the climber?

I have a Sitka Flash 20 pack I use to carry my LW climber in. I just use the pack straps and attach the climber to it. Carry all my warm clothes in the pack, camera arm and such and it's very portable for long walks. Pack isn't too large but big enough I can carry what I need in it.

Just about can't escape getting molle shoulder straps WITH the kidney belt. The belt makes a huge difference. You can get them relatively cheap off ebay or Amazon.

I was a bit concerned this year. My private land is a joke and I thought up until hours before opening day I'd be on public land which meant no ATV and a mile + trek into the woods. I did it a few times last year but had a heart attack in May of this year and was concerned about carrying all of that into the woods and THEN climbing in my climber and especially dragging a deer out. Also hoping the deer didn't run in the opposite direction of my truck after getting shot.

Luckily I scored a piece of property Friday evening before Saturday opener and drove my ATV up to the tree, set up and parked about 25 yds away for the hunt.

The Summit climber has a nice little "shelf" built in and my pack fits there perfectly. I don't even tie it on because the padded back portion of the seat cushion covers it and holds it in place. I pack in anywhere from a half mile to a mile and a half. Really getting to old for that much work. Need to find a closer place to hunt. :D

Summit makes saddle bags that go on the sides of your climbing stand. I have the so I don’t use a backpack anymore

But when I did.... on my summit viper stand I used the cinch strap to tie the top loop of backpack to the top rail of the stand it carries great

    ****ens CPA nailed it.

    MOLLE II strap on eBay.
I have a mile plus walk in the woods as well, this is the only way to go. You will be amazed at how much a difference the kidney belt makes. It made it almost effortless.

I just put my day pack inside my stand and bungee it all together. With the padded shoulder straps it's not bad on long hikes.

Instead of a back pack, I used a waist pack, and turned it around to face forward when walking in, and turned it around to my back when I climbed.
