We actually had a rare (for ID) earthquake yesterday. 6.4 somewhere north of Boise. We felt it here in Lewiston (5 hours from Boise driving) very mildly. I was driving home from work and felt the truck act weird like a gust of wind had hit it. Didn't realize that wasn't what it was until I got home and heard on the news. The last one we had was in 1983, I was 10 and sitting at the table eating breakfast before school and mildly felt that one, biggest thing I remember was all the china rattling around in the cabinet. Thinking about that now seems funny, we were dirt poor country folk but had a china cabinet...
Of course, social media is filled with nothing but talk about it...including the tinfoil hat folks talking about how this is the Rapture starting what with C-19 and all.
    Hope you're baptized folks.

The Firstlite crew was talking about it yesterday and some of the comments were...interesting. Stay safe out there.

I would imagine Idaho being as close to Yellowstone has spurred the tinfoil hat wearing crowd..!

Fracking in Oklahoma is causing it.

Don't laugh, but my daughter and I were taking a run in VA yesterday about 4 when I felt something weird. I actually thought I was getting an inner ear infection as my balance went to hell for about 2 to 3 seconds. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a small quake.

Hey we finally stopped when the former bought and paid for by the oil overlords governor finally accepted scientific fact that high pressure wastewater wells were causing it. 5000 earthquakes in one year alone above 3.0 but any fact presented from the scientific community was regarded as bs from tree huggers. Then magically when a moratorium was put in place they all stopped, imagine that..

Well if man can cause an earthquake, perhaps we can prevent or stop them.

Bob was it fracking or the wastewater wells? I have been to a few places that do deep well discharge and the pressure is from the 2500' or more of pipe going down the well, vs any hydraulic pressure generated by pumps. Interesting I will have to do some research.
