I get to pick up my Mother's Day Present on Friday. I got a Smith & Wesson M&P Compact .40 :nana: Then going straight up to the cabin and putting some rounds through it. Very exciting! I had to get something to back my Conceal and Carry card. Actually, I think the real reason is because then my boyfriend doesn't have to hear me whining about how scared I am going in to and coming out from my stand in the dark. :poke: Either way, I am happy with my gift :)

Awesome! I hear good things about the M&P.

Have you taken a defensive handgun course? I have killed a lot of paper and a fair pile of critters with a handgun but until two weekends ago, hadn't taken any type of pistol class. I went to one put on by the USRA (United States Rifleman's Assoc.). It was a lot of fun and also very interesting to try to draw and shoot from a holster, move defensively and do tactical reloads.

Thanks everyone! I am really excited!

No Christine, I have not taken a course yet...BUT I plan to. I am very new to hunting and guns so I have a ways to go before I will be comfortable enough to be carrying it around with me. I loved taking the hunter safety course and still know that I have LOTS to learn! So, thank you for the info...I will be looking in to this!
